DOLLAR VALUE OF YOUR SPACE You may not realize the value of your space, but read on to put it into perspective. If you have a 1,500-square-foot house worth $300,000, every square foot in the house is worth $200. A 10x10-foot room you can't get into because of clutter, that's a $20,000 storage room. That is a monthly cost of about 7% of your mortgage just on storage.
Are the things in the room worth that much?
VALUE OF YOUR TIME Think about how much time you spend every day looking for your keys, unpaid bills, checkbook, the belt that goes with your shoes or whatever. For the purposes of this exercise, lets say you spend fifteen minutes (15) each day searching for things.
How much do you earn at your job? If you earn $20.00 per hour, disorganization is costing you $5.00 per day. That works out to $35.00 per week $140 per month and $1,680 per year - that is just a start to the time you are giving away. Your time has value
